Answer
What is the difference between Bowen Therapy and the Emmett Technique?
Bowen Therapy uses precise, rolling movements over muscles, tendons, ligaments and fascia, with short pauses that give the body time to respond and initiate its own healing. The Emmett Technique uses light finger pressure on specific 'Emmett Points' to ease muscular tension and improve movement. Both are gentle and hands-on, and the Emmett Technique can also be integrated with Bowen Therapy.
How is TRE® different from Bowen Therapy and the Emmett Technique?
Bowen Therapy and the Emmett Technique are hands-on treatments applied by the practitioner. TRE® (Tension & Trauma Releasing Exercises) is a guided practice that encourages the body to activate its natural therapeutic tremor mechanism, releasing tension without the need to relive or talk through experiences. You remain in control throughout and learn a self-care tool you can use independently.
Do I need to remove my clothes for a session?
No. The Emmett Technique is performed fully clothed whenever possible, and Bowen Therapy is a gentle, fully clothed bodywork treatment. Simply wear comfortable clothing you can relax in.
Are these therapies suitable for children and older adults?
Yes. Both Bowen Therapy and the Emmett Technique are gentle enough for people of all ages—from newborn babies to older adults. TRE® is suitable for most people and can be adapted to different levels of mobility and fitness.
Can Bowen Therapy and the Emmett Technique be combined?
Yes. The Emmett Technique can be provided as a stand-alone therapy or integrated with Bowen Therapy to enhance relaxation and support the body's natural healing processes.
Is TRE® safe — do I need any experience?
TRE® is suitable for most people and can be adapted to your mobility and fitness. No prior experience is needed. Each session is guided at your own pace in a safe, supportive environment where you remain in control throughout.
What should I expect in my first session?
We begin by talking through your concerns and history, then plan a session tailored to your needs. Every session is calm and unhurried, guided by how your body responds.
Do these therapies replace medical treatment?
No. These are gentle complementary therapies. They are not intended to diagnose or replace conventional medical care, but can be a valuable addition to your overall health and wellness plan.
